Happy March! Can you believe we are already 1/6 through 2019? It feels like New Year’s was just yesterday! Now that we are just exiting February, it is officially time for my third month blog growth and income report!

- Why I post blog growth and income reports:
When I started my journey of blogging, I read lots of posts titled โblog income reportsโ and โblog growth reportsโ where bloggers post all theirย trafficย andย monetaryย numbers for their readers to see, to be completely transparent about everything they do!
The first income report I read was byย Create And Go, which they update monthlyย here. They have great info and you should check them out if youโre interested in blogging.Create And Go is a veryย successfulย blog, with many followers and high SEO ranking. Comparatively, I found very fewย newย bloggers that post growth reports or income reports in theย earlyย stages of their blog.
Most people wait 4-6 months, or maybe a whole year, to post a growth report โ enough time for them to build a social media presence and gain authority online.
I decided to start monthly growth reports at the beginning of my blogging career to show the process from the very start of creating a new blog!ย These blogging reports will includeย growthย andย incomeย information,ย social mediaย information, as well as myย goalsย for the following month of blogging!
Pin this for later:

General Information:
- I launched BeautyBrainsBlush.com on December 1, 2018
- This report covers month three, from February 1-28, 2019
- I published 14 blog posts this month!
Generally, I set goals to keep with my schedule of posting 3x a week, M/W/F – and I did! Plus, there are some bonus posts (this week there are FIVE posts, including this one!) 14 is an awesome amount, especially for a short month ๐
Updates
This month I redid the layout of the website… again.
I decided I wanted to start a “reviews” section of the blog, and needed to accommodate for a larger menu. Instead of just tweaking things a little, I redid everything – added a beginner section, moved tutorials underneath looks, added reviews, and added a top menu bar with some “about” type of navigation.
I’ve written one review to start off my review section: Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio Review and Swatches
I think I want to add a dupe section under reviews, too.
Under news, there is now a new releases subcategory! I originally had some random stuff like gift guides under news, which doesn’t exactly fit – but I’m not sure where else to put things like that.
There is also a new chat feature available on the blog! I got techy and figured out how to install a Facebook Messenger chat, connected with my page! If you send something through that chat, it will go right to my phone & page’s messenger, so you can ask me questions and connect with me quickly. Don’t be shy!
Sephora Squad Application
This isn’t really a blog update, but a cool-thing-I-would-love update. I applied to be a part of the #SephoraSquad this month. It would be a FANTASTIC opportunity for me – entirely life changing type of opportunity!
If you like my blog and the transparency I have in these reports, please consider leaving a testimony for me. <3 Thanks!
Page Views and Users
Goals I had for this month:
- 500 unique users
- 1,000 page views
- lower bounce rate(?)
This month’s statistics:

I can’t believe I reached over 1000 users this month!! That’s double my goal. My Valentine’s looks post really took off on Pinterest, which sent me to 100 users on Valentine’s Day alone. I’m super happy about the growth in traffic I’ve had this month, especially compared to last month with less than a third of the users – now I need to figure out how to keep it going up so I don’t plateau or drop.
My page views increased, but not as much as I thought they would with this amount of users. I need to link past articles better within new ones to help direct people to spend more time on my site and view more pages. This will also help lower bounce rates.
Goals for next month:
- 1,300 unique users
- 1,500 page views
Acquisition
Goals I had for this month:
- Use long tailed keywords to help increase organic search (and search through Pinterest!)
This month’s statistics:

Of this, 76% of my social driven traffic is from Pinterest.
I did a few posts with better long tailed keywords, but my problem is that I can’t find any (easily) that aren’t oversaturated with people with DA way higher (60+) than mine (which is only 5). When I find ones with competition & lower DA, the volume of searches per month is 0.
Any tips for me? Please let me know!
My organic search did go up a lot this month anyway (118 hits) – but mostly for the posts that I didn’t do a lot of research for! *face palm*
And, as expected, Pinterest brought me a lot of my traffic.
Facebook brought in a decent amount too, but not because of my page – because I’ve been shamelessly commenting links on posts asking for makeup advice. But this isn’t very sustainable.
Goals for next month:
- Continue growing in Pinterest and Tailwind (more on this in social media later)
Goals I had for this month:
- Read about how to getย moreย email subscribers
- Learn how to writeย betterย email campaigns that peopleย wantย to read
- Increase my list to a total ofย 50ย subscribers
This month’s statistics:
- 9 subscribers, 8 that aren’t me.
Well… I didn’t really focus on this, again.
Goals for next month:
- Keep sending weekly email updates on Fridays
- Create more opt-in opportunities for many posts
Social Media
Goals I had for this month:
- Have a total of 800 followers on Pinterest
- Take advantage of Tailwind and evaluate if I should pay for the full service
- Use long keyword planning with Pinterest
- Continue posting daily on IG, or at least 4/7 days a week (every other day!)
- Continue sharing posts, IG posts, and other makeup posts on the Facebook page daily.
- Try to interact with people to encourage commenting.
This month’s statistics:
Pinterest:
- 1200+ followers
- 1.8 million monthly reach
- 84.6k monthly engaged

Holy cowwww! My monthly reach exploded this month, primarily because the looks in my Valentine’s looks post went kind of viral – but, they weren’t clicked on as much as they were pinned.

Also, I paid for a year of Tailwind. I have no doubt that Tailwind is helping me get more views, shares, and clicks.
Instagram:
- 1320-some followers
- Joined an engagement group to like/comment on each others posts to help boost IG algorithm
- Had a dozen clicks on my link
- Started using lnk.bio to organize my links in my bio
- Posted consistently
- Started weekly live sessions Tuesdays at 7pm CST!
Facebook/Twitter:
- Shared posts consistently
- Interacted with brands/people on Twitter, gained a couple followers
- Gained a few FB likes
Goals for next month:
- Step up flatlay game for IG!
- Keep up consistent posting and lives on IG
- Lives on FB?
- Makeup support group FB?
- Interact with brands on Twitter
- Utilize Tailwind and schedule lots of pins!
Income
Goals I had for this month:
- try to start getting the hang of things!
This month’s statistics:

I made $.070 on adsense this month… woohoo!
AND what’s even MORE exciting… I made my first Amazon affiliate sale!!

Only one of the items ordered is one I linked, but I get a partial credit for ones ordered within a certain cookie window.
It isn’t much, but it gives me hope! I am SUPER excited about this total $1.64 – way more excited than I have ever been about a dollar in my life.
Here’s a click bait Pin to celebrate this accomplishment:

Note: I do have to wait quite a while before I’ll even get paid from these programs, though! I know AdSense doesn’t pay out until you reach a threshold of $100, so it’ll be years at this rate, haha.
I also applied for ShareASale and was accepted 2 days ago! Hopefully I can figure that out and start using that soon too.
Goals for next month:
- Update disclaimers and terms to include ShareASale
- Find merchants on ShareASale
- Focus on 2 awesome affiliate posts in March
Future Goals
- Plan out future posts better
- Write as much as I can
- Make more opt ins
- Take better IG photos that can also be shared on Pinterest
- Take more of my own pictures instead of using stock images
Oh hey, fellow blogger!

Do you post growth reports? What are your stats like? How long have you been blogging? Do you want to be my friend?!
As you can see, I have lots of questions.
Leave me a comment if you liked this post, liked my transparency, or want to be my blogger or makeup friend!
Happy blogging ๐

These are awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. It definitely gives some hope for my blog that is just starting out this month. I’m soo happy for you that things are working out for you and that you made your first amazon sale! Congrats!
Thanks, Julie!
This was really good to read! You are so right in that most people (if any) donโt post reports for the beginning of their journey!
I started exactly one week after you did and had nothing to compare myself to for a long time! Congratulations on your growth! Keep it up!
I am flabbergasted at your Pinterest growth especially! Wow! Howโd you get so many followers girl! Teach us your ways! ????
I’m so glad you found this helpful! I haven’t had anything to compare myself to either so I’m glad I can be that resource for you ๐ Thank you! Really just consistently pinning helped my Pinterest grow a lot. I have almost 6,000 pins on my account from the past 3.5 months! Having tons of content from your niche (even when it isn’t your own – mine is 90% other people’s) helps your account be more active which attracts more followers!
Hi kailey. I started pinning a lot more and have seen good growth. Nothing compared to yours yet but the reports are good to read and inspire. Well done.
That’s great Lee! I’ll have another report up next week for March’s growth ๐
