One of the most underrated steps in most makeup routines, in my opinion, is blush. Since I’ve never really had many shades of blush, I jumped at the chance to try 3 different shades in the same compact. I bought two shades of this product, so here is my Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio review!

Blush is such a simple (yet beneficial) step in a makeup routine. It brings life and color to the face, and is so easy to apply! Plus, you can match your blush shades to compliment your eyeshadow looks – which creates a subtle yet impactful sense of cohesion to your makeup.

Plus, “blush” is literally a third of our blog’s name – wouldn’t it be weird if we didn’t like it? Haha!

According to the Anastasia Beverly Hills website, these blush trios are both cruelty free and vegan.

ABH describes this product as “a collection of three full-pigment blush shades in ABH’s finely milled, blendable formula. Each shade provides buildable intensity and a seamless finish.”

  • “Use the compact’s 3 shades separately or mix them together to create a variety of looks
  • The travel-friendly compact includes a large mirror for on-the-go touch-ups
  • Available in 5 color ranges with multiple finishes” Source.

The three shades in each trio compliment each other very nicely, with a variety of matte and satin blush formulas.

Several of the shades (such as Miami, the light orange shade in the Peachy Love trio) has intense-looking sparkle – but don’t worry, these blushes do not look glittery on the skin.

Here’s another close up from ABH’s Twitter, to really show the texture of the matte shades! (Trio shown: Cocktail Party, which features 3 matte shades)

I own both Pink Passion and Peachy Love.

Pink Passion Swatches

Shades in this trio:

  • Basically: Matte orchid pink
  • Sugar: Satin bubblegum pink
  • Rose: Satin petal pink

Peachy Love Swatches

Shades in this trio:

  • Nectarine: Matte dusty peach
  • Ginger: Matte toasted coral
  • Miami: Matte bright peach with gold sparkle

To me, any shade with sparkle should not be called “matte” but this shade does not look glittery on the face!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Blush Trio Review

Overall, these are awesome blushes. I love both shades equally.

Here is a breakdown of different components that I love about these:

Pigmentation

These blushes have a great amount of pigment. You can definitely see the color of these on the skin, but it isn’t SO pigmented enough that you’ll look like a clown after applying. Some shades are a little more sheer, but these are still very buildable! I definitely can get the color payoff I desire with these blushes.

Blendability

These apply beautifully with a gentle sweeping motion. I’ve used several different brushes with these, and they all apply great. I personally start off with a lighter hand (with all blushes!) and build up to the color I desire, and the formula of these blushes works great with my method.

Shades

I personally love the shades in all of these trios! There is a trio that would work for any skin tone: Berry Adore would be stunning on a deeper skin tone, and Pink Passion looks great on a pale gal like me! I also think that the three shades in each trio all compliment each other in a wonderful way – they are different enough to be distinct shades, but would work really well all mixed together, too!

Packaging

I love ABH packaging – it is heavy, luxurious feeling, and NICE. Aside from the aesthetically pleasing details on the front of the trio, there is a very nice clasp that keeps the compact shut – but is also easy to open (especially important to you beauties with long nails!). The mirrors inside these compacts are also very nice, with the ABH name on the bottom of them. I think these are the perfect type of packaging to travel with, because they are sturdy and compact. I would not be afraid of damaging my blush or getting it all over my makeup bag on a trip, I would be able to use the NICE mirror in it, and it gives me multiple blush options without taking up much room! (Did I say “nice” enough?)

Quality

ABH is a high end makeup brand, known for high quality products. This one is no exception. The combination of the aesthetics, performance, selection, and product itself makes this a high quality blush. I reach for these two every day right now, instead of my previous favorite blushes.

Price

These retail for $30 a piece where ABH products are sold. I think this is a fair price for this product, especially given prices of similar products from ABH and other high end cosmetics companies. Personally, I would rather spend much less money on a good drugstore product than spend $30 on .3g of blush (like the Wet N Wild color icon blushes, which are matte and awesome for $2.99!). I did, however, pick mine up at both TJ Maxx and Marshalls, where they cost $10.99 each – almost a third of the original cost. For this price, I think that it is GREAT! But judging by the retail value, 4 hearts.

If you want to pick up one of these blushes, I suggest checking out your local TJ Maxx or Marshalls first – there were many at mine recently, at a large discount!

I really love these, and I would definitely recommend them if you like blush as much as I do!
