Tenth month blog growth report. September was a blur! Most beauty blogs don’t post growth reports, but I love sharing a realistic pattern of blog growth with my readers and other bloggers. Keep reading to find out all the stuff that went on with beautybrainsblush this month!

Why I post blog growth and income reports:

When I started my journey of blogging, I read lots of posts titled “blog income reports” and “blog growth reports” where bloggers post all their traffic and monetary numbers for their readers to see, to be completely transparent about everything they do!

The first income report I read was by Create And Go, which they update monthly here. They have great info and you should check them out if you’re interested in blogging.Create And Go is a very successful blog, with many followers and high SEO ranking. Comparatively, I found very few new bloggers that post growth reports or income reports in the early stages of their blog.

Most people wait 4-6 months, or maybe a whole year, to post a growth report – enough time for them to build a social media presence and gain authority online.

I decided to start monthly growth reports at the beginning of my blogging career to show the process from the very start of creating a new blog! These blogging reports will include growth and income information, social media information, as well as my goals for the following month of blogging!

10th Month Blog Growth and Income Report for Makeup Blog Beautybrainsblush.com

General Information:

  • I launched BeautyBrainsBlush.com on December 1, 2018
  • This report covers my tenth month blog growth, from September 1 – 30, 2019
  • I published 5 blog posts this month. This is much less than normal.

Page Views and Users

Goals I had for this month:

  • 25k users
  • 35k page views

This month’s statistics:

  • 9,329 users (down from 18.3k)
  • 12,266 page views (down from 24.9k)

This was definitely different than last month – but you can tell that the big article that drove tons of traffic died down after a bit.

Still an improvement from July, though!

Goals for next month:

  • 25k users
  • 35k page views

I’m not going to lower my goals, but I know it might take a couple more months to reach them!

Acquisition

Goals I had for this month:

  • Write 3 posts based on Pinterest SEO

This month’s statistics:

I did write a couple evergreen posts this month! That’s super good, since the past couple months it seemed the only posts I was getting out were about new products.

These did consider Pinterest SEO, too. I need to really work on cranking out some writing soon. Figuring out videos made me fall behind a bit!

Of the views from social media, 86% were from Pinterest. I think that is great! I would like more views from other networks though too.

Goals for next month:

  • Write 3 posts based on Pinterest SEO

Email

Goals I had for this month:

  • 200 subscribers

This month’s statistics:

  • 192 subscribers (up from 152!)

Not quite at my goal, but close! Granted, I didn’t send many emails this month – only 1 or 2 – but maybe that’s what my audience would prefer?

I need to send specific tips for my email subscribers to add value!

Goals for next month:

  • 200 subscribers

Social Media

Goals I had for this month:

  • Post more older blog posts on FB to cycle them through – I have enough to do this and not be repetitive!
  • Film a couple videos and get comfortable on camera and editing.
  • 100 day makeup challenge?

This month’s statistics:

  • Pinterest: 9,019 followers, 2.8 million monthly reach
(last month 8,135 followers and 2.5 million monthly reach)
  • Instagram: 1377 followers
    (last month 1383 followers)
  • Facebook:  106 followers
    (last month 93)
  • Twitter: 14 followers, I don’t really use Twitter I just have the account.

I have gone live (on IG) quite a bit this month! This is a huge improvement to previous months. I’ve been doing the 100 days of makeup challenge (already have 20+ posted!) and have gone live while doing them at least half the time. I haven’t gone live on FB yet, but I will soon.

Instead of trying to remember to cycle through old articles on FB, I need to sit down and schedule them to Facebook for the entire month. Going to add that to my calendar!

Because of the 100 days of makeup challenge, I’m getting a lot more engagement on my Facebook posts. This is awesome! Some family and friends have shared my cool makeup looks, too – expanding my reach and bringing a few more likes to my page. Woohoo!

For some reason, it hasn’t helped at all on Instagram though. I really am hating IG lately!

Also… I FILMED MY FIRST YOUTUBE VIDEO! It’s just an introduction, but it’s filmed and edited (with a couple minutes of bloopers haha). I am going to wait to post it until I have a couple more videos filmed so I don’t get behind.

Goals for next month:

  • Post more older blog posts on FB to cycle them through – I have enough to do this and not be repetitive!
  • Film a couple videos and get comfortable on camera and editing.
  • 100 day makeup challenge
  • Halloween makeup! Take advantage of the increase in searches this month.

Income

Goals I had for this month:

  • $500
  • update August deals
  • advertise deals page more

This month’s statistics:

  • Google AdSense: $8.53
  • Amazon Associates: $11.67
  • rStyle: $393.46

Total for this month: $413.66

WOOHOO! I broke the $400 threshold for the first time!

This is almost entirely due to this article, and the corresponding sale from Ulta. While the sale is over (and my affiliate flow in the last week of the month wasn’t as good because of it) I know that holiday sales and shopping are going to start to pop up any time now, and I definitely want to capitalize on that.

Also, I’m super excited because I got my first payout from affiliate marketing this month!

Most companies (like Amazon, Google AdSense) will not pay you until you reach the $100 threshold. For affiliate products, you also have to wait 90 days for the return policy to end before you get paid. I’m just now reaching the time where I’m getting paid for what I earned in March and April, which is so exciting!

There are also expenses to blogging, including hosting, Tailwind, Canva, and other random little things (like backdrop supplies and office materials)! This month I bought a planner and calculated a bunch of info for taxes, too.

Goals for next month:

  • $500
  • update October deals
  • advertise deals page more
  • write Halloween related affiliate post EARLY
  • start holiday posts

I didn’t reach the $500 this month, but I can see myself reaching it in November or December for sure!

Future Goals

Last month my goals were to start youtube and research business structures and tax information. I’m happy to announce that I did both! My blog isn’t making enough money yet to justify a business license, but I researched what information I’ll need to know for 2019 taxes.

  • Post 1 video a week on YouTube this month!

I hope my tenth month blog growth report was helpful for you! All these numbers are real, and it’s sometimes weird putting it all out there on the internet – but I know I personally would have loved to read these.
