I love wearing glitter on my eyes, but I hate the mess. Additionally, glitter can be very harmful for your eyes (make sure you always use cosmetic grade glitter that is eye-safe!) and very hard to wash off. If only there was an easy way to get some sparkle without this pain… oh wait, there is! Keep reading for my full Stila Glitter & Glow liquid eye shadow review.

This product, overall, gets the grand review of five hearts!

Ease of Use

If you’ve ever tried to use loose glitter, you know that it requires a bit of preparation. You have to get cosmetic-grade glitter, a glitter primer or glue, a brush, and give yourself a decent amount of time to apply it to your eyes.
When you’re done it looks fabulous, but you’ll have glitter fallout all over your cheeks, and you’ll find random specs of glitter on your face for the coming week. You can never seem to wash it off entirely!
The Stila Glitter & Glows solve all the problems I have with using glitter.
To use this liquid glitter eyeshadow, you simply unscrew the cap, make sure you have an adequate amount of product on the wand applicator, and gentle swipe it over your eyelid. If you desire, you can add a second coat of product after it dries.
That is seriously all there is to it! You get a gorgeous dose of shimmer and shine, from wand to eye in 5 seconds. It DOES take a few seconds to dry, maybe a minute if you apply a thicker coat of product – but closing your eyes for a minute is MUCH easier than any other glitter I’ve tried!
I truly think that you can successfully use this product no matter your makeup skill level. It’s super easy to use and gorgeous!

The glitter and glow liquid eyeshadows are NOT opaque. But in my opinion, that is totally okay – they are perfect the way they are!
You can definitely tell that these shades are different colors (swatches below!), meaning that you’ll probably want a couple shades to compliment different eye looks.
I personally prefer that these liquid eyeshadows aren’t opaque. This allows me to customize a few different things about my look:
- Control the amount of glitter you’re using
You can use one layer of the liquid eyeshadow for a pretty, light layer of glitter. If you want a more dramatic effect, you can layer another layer after the first dries – and even a third if you want!
Because you can see through them a bit, they layer beautifully and you can build up to the amount of glitter you desire.
- Create custom shades
Love the iridescent glitter in one, but the rose gold tone of another?
Mix them on your hand or layer the two together to create your own custom look!
- Layer with eyeshadow
Put your favorite colored eyeshadow (any color!) on your eyelid, and dab a bit of a glitter & glow on top. Bam! That matte or sub-par shimmer is now a gorgeous, colored glitter!
Here are my swatches so you can see what I mean; from top to bottom, these are the shades Kitten Karma, Perlina, and Golden Girl.
As you can see, Kitten Karma is more opaque than the other two shades (though it isn’t 100% full coverage), which you can see my skin through. I personally like this, and find them so fun to combine and layer!
Shades

There are quite a few shades of the Stila Glitter & Glows; 15, plus a half dozen Glitter & Glow Duochrome shades, and some that are just available in minis.
The shades that are offered tend to be more neutral in color, with some warm rosy tones, a pink, and a purple option.

While these shades look pretty similar in a swatch comparison, they do have different color shifts and colored glitter inside of them. Do you need all of them? Probably not. Will you want all of them anyway? Probably yes.
I have four shades of Glitter & Glows, one of which is a duo-chrome shade.
The Stila Glitter & Glow shades I own are:
- Kitten Karma (champagne/silver and copper sparkle)
- Golden Girl
- Perlina (opalescent white, bright blue, pink, and purple pearl)
- Into the Blue (duo-chrome)
I definitely think that having a cool toned or white glitter (like Perlina) and a warm toned gold or rose gold (such as Kitten Karma or any of the Golds!) are essential for any glitter-lover.

The thing I hate about traditional glitter is that it doesn’t always stick to your eye. Plus, if you’re dancing or if it’s hot out, you’ll sweat – which will loosen the glitter glue even quicker. You wind up with glitter specks all over your face!
With the glitter & glows, you truly don’t have that issue. These last ALL day for me!
On top of lasting all day, they don’t have any fallout because they are a liquid formula. This means no more glitter falling on my cheeks, which is an A+ in my book.
And – get this – I don’t have an issue with the Glitter & Glows creasing. I have slightly hooded eyes, and as long as I allow this product to fully dry before blinking a lot, I don’t have issues with it creasing on me throughout the day.
These wear beautifully for ANY liquid eyeshadow, and wear much longer than a traditional glitter.

Packaging

The packaging on the Stila Glitter & Glows are simple, yet aesthetic and effective. They have the classic Stila gold top and writing, while the clear bottom has a vial of the gorgeous sparkles inside, allowing you to see the shade through the packaging.
Inside, there is a flexible paddle applicator. Because it is similar to a lipgloss doe foot applicator, you can apply glitter very precisely with the packaging it comes in – no need for an additional detail brush!
(It’s essentially a shorter version of Stila’s lip gloss packaging!)

One of the full size Glitter & Glows retails for $24. The full size contains 4.5mL of product, and expires one year after opening.
I am personally pretty frugal when it comes to makeup. I only spend more than $15 on a product if I think it’s really good or if it’s something high end that I truly enjoy! And I have to admit, due to the appearance and ease of use with the Stila Glitter & Glows, I think that $24 is a fair price!
That said, the mini Glitter & Glows often retail in a three piece set around holiday time (and all the time here!) for $25. Each mini contains 2.25mL, half of the full size version. They also expire a year after opening.
I know that a few milliliters doesn’t sound like a lot of product, especially for the price. It isn’t a lot. However, you need the TINIEST amount of this product to achieve the desired effect – and even a mini will last you a long time!
Here is the size difference:

Because these are liquid, they CAN dry out. I’ve had mine for 7-8 months and they are still doing great, but I do think that they will dry out soon after they expire (which is okay, because they should be replaced at that point anyway).
Unless you want to wear a Glitter & Glow every single day, I doubt you will use a full sized product before it expires. If you want a specific full size shade, I think it’s worth it – but if you want a small variety and don’t care which shades you get, DEFINITELY grab a mini set instead.
Sometimes Silta puts a set of three minis on sale (like this one!! [July 18 2019]), in which case it’s an INCREDIBLE deal – the same price or cheaper than dupes!
Pro tip: Both Sephora and Ulta carry Stila products, and during the Christmas season they each have sets of minis – but different sets! Check out both stores to see which one has shades you like better.
