Alamar Cosmetics is a new brand to me, but it’s been quite the buzz on Youtube over the past couple months (thanks to beauty gurus like Kathleen Lights). I saw this blush trio being used and raved about by many Youtubers, and wanted to try it – but I didn’t know anything about it or knew anyone who has bought anything from the small, indie brand. I was so excited to open up my Boxycharm this month and see the blush trio inside! Keep reading for the full Alamar Cosmetics Colorette Blush Trio review.
About Alamar Cosmetics
Since this is the first product I’m trying from Alamar, I wanted to learn a bit about the brand and share it with you!
- “Alamar” means “stay close to the sea”
And honestly, that’s the only information that I’ve found so far! I don’t know when they were founded (though I do know it was recently). Their FAQ doesn’t include information about being cruelty free or vegan, however the product description of the blush trio DOES state that it is vegan, talc free, cruelty free, and fragrance free.
I’m not sure if they are sold at any other retailers, aside from their website. Though it is possible you’ll be able to find this blush trop in the Boxycharm Charm Room if they have extra stock from the May 2019 subscription box.
I’ll reach out to the brand and update this article with their responses. 🙂

Alamar Cosmetics Colorette Blush Trio Review
This blush trio in fair/light includes three peachy and pinky shades of blush in a small palette. It’s a very nice cardboard package (above) with magnetic closure and a high quality mirror!
I personally love the packaging, from how slim and sleek it feels to the color scheme and texture on the front.
The back of the packaging states that the product was made in Taiwan and contains 8g of product.
My overall rating:

I’ll tell you why I’m giving this product 5 hearts, broken down into sections below!
Pigmentation

I don’t like a blush that is TOO pigmented. You know, the ones where you barely tap your brush in, and it’s such a pigmented pop of color on your cheeks that you can’t blend it out and you look like a clown.
The level of pigmentation in this palette, in my opinion, is perfect.
You can put a sheer wash of color over your cheeks. You can also build up the color to really stand out and pop.
Blendability

Because these shades aren’t TOO pigmented, they are easy to blend out on your skin. I typically don’t set my foundation, and they even blend out nicely on top of an unset base.
It’s also very easy to blend a couple of these shades (or all of them) together.
Here’s a closeup of the product. The texture is gorgeous!

Personally, I love the shades they chose for this trio.
You have a classic pinky nude blush “Paraiso” in the center. This one is Kathleen Light’s favorite.
But instead of sticking with a pink trend, there is an orange “Castaway” blush and a peachy gold “Scorcher” shade!
Not only are these shades gorgeous and unique alone, they also look amazing when mixed together.
Pink, light orange, and peach are honestly the only shades of blush I wear on a daily basis. I have a peachy and orange ABH Blush trio, as well as a pink one, that I love using when I specifically am looking for a pink or orange blush. I have a variety of peachy tones as well. But this palette covers all my basics in one convenient packaging!
The middle shade Paraiso is less shimmery than the other two, but all have a bit of a sheen to them. They look glowy but not glittery on the skin, which I love!
Swatches are at the end of the article.
Packaging

I mentioned the packaging in the beginning of the review, because I think it’s important to many people.
This packaging is a cardboard palette, and reminds me of like a Colourpop palette’s packaging + a nice mirror. It’s sturdy, I don’t think it would break if I dropped it, and it’s very slim and will be easy to travel with.
A lot of small brands have very cheap packaging when they start, and Alamar Cosmetics doesn’t seem to be skimping on that aspect.
Side note: Alamar Cosmetics has brushes and palettes. This one I found on Amazon! Has anyone tried these?

I was honestly blown away by how nice these are.
What I love the most about this blush formula is how gorgeous you can build it up, and there will never be fallout in the pan!
I’ve lightly tapped into the blush, and also swirled a big brush around a bit harder. There has been no fallout whatsoever on the palette.
Price

Alamar Cosmetics is asking $22 for this blush trio. That’s a bit less than the $30 ABH trios I reviewed, but it still isn’t “cheap” for a new brand.
That said, I do totally believe that these are 100% worth $22, for three awesome blush shades!
Why only 4 hearts then?
Because you’ll have to order directly from Alamar Cosmetics and pay shipping. The availability for these products aren’t super great right now, which is understandable because they are a small indie brand. However, that does raise the cost for the consumer.
Shipping costs $8, which will bring the price up to $30 for the blush trio. That price is the same as ABH – a high end, well established brand that is available at 5 different stores within 2 miles of where I live.

Alamar Cosmetics Colorette Blush Trio Swatches
The shades in the fair/light palette are Castaway, Paraiso, and Scorcher.
I really love these shades and I think they work well on my light skin. There are two other shades of this blush trio, intended for medium and deep skin tones, that are also gorgeous.
Here they are swatched on my arm!

Overall, I think this palette is awesome and I’m super glad that I got it in my Boxycharm. Boxycharm is a monthly makeup subscription box that costs $21. You get 4-5 full size items, and I love it! The retail value of my May 2019 box was $104 – I paid less for the box than the blush trio alone, and got 4 other awesome products. You can sign up here if you’re interested.
I hope that this Alamar Cosmetics Colorette Blush Trio review has been helpful for you!
