If you watch makeup gurus on Youtube, you’ve probably seen this setting spray: a black container that resembles a hairspray can, spraying out aerosol-style to set a person’s makeup. They all claim that this product is great, but how does it hold up for the average consumer? Keep reading my Morphe Continuous Setting Mist review to find out!

Makeup Glossary

Setting sprays are one of my favorite products. It’s almost magical how a simple spray can keep your makeup looking pretty and last the entire day, as well as make it look more skin-like!

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Review

The Continuous Setting Mist used to be called the Prep and Set, but according to their website it is the same formula and a new name.

This is the only setting spray that Morphe currently offers.

Most setting sprays have a pump spray nozzle, which requires users to use multiple “spritzes” of setting spray on their face to fully cover their skin.

This particular setting spray is “continuous” in an aerosol format – meaning you can press down and hold, and the mist keeps spraying out of the container.

My overall rating:

I’ll tell you exactly why I’m rating this product four hearts, broken down into multiple sections!

Packaging

When I first ordered this product, I thought it would be like a huge can of aerosol hairspray. It’s not. It’s like a small or medium can of hair spray, haha!

The setting mist feels super light, but lasts longer than you’d expect when you pick it up.

It’s a perfect size to hold in your hand, without feeling too small or too bulky. Continuous Setting Mist has 2.8oz of product in it, which means it is travel friendly too!

The nozzle on top is easy to press and hold. The mist that sprays out is extremely fine and evenly distributed – the perfect spray in my opinion! There isn’t anything overly impressive about the packaging, but I’m completely satisfied with it.

Finish

I love the finish of this setting spray sooooo much!

If you want a very matte setting spray, this isn’t for you. Sorry! But if you’re like me and want a dewy or natural finish, you are going to love this.

Because the spray is so incredibly fine, your face looks like it’s glowing after you set it!

Like any liquid spray, it is wet on your face to start. When it dries down and sets, it gives the perfect level of luminosity to your skin, without feeling sticky or tight.

Wear Time

I do believe that this setting spray extends the wear time of my makeup.

I’ve used other sprays before that might look nice, but didn’t really help me that much (elf, for example). This spray helps me look nice and melt the makeup into my face – and I really think it keeps it on my face longer!

Waterproof? Sweat-proof?

I don’t think any setting spray is completely waterproof.

But as far as setting sprays go, this one is pretty dang good.

I use this in hot and humid Tennessee summertime weather, and my face doesn’t (usually) melt off!

That said, if it’s very hot out and I begin sweating, it won’t last forever. It’s one of the best I’ve tried though! 🙂

Price

The price for one bottle of setting spray is $16, which isn’t too bad.

What sort of bugs me about the price is that there is less product in the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist (2.8 oz) than other popular, higher end sprays (3.4 – 4 oz).

Yes, the cost per ounce is still less than MAC or Urban Decay – but I also feel like I go through the Morphe spray a LOT quicker than I do other brands, because of the continuous spray format. I’ve easily gone through two bottles of this spray in the time it would take me to use one bottle of MAC Fix +; though it’s hard to compare this to any other mist because it is so unique.

The price on it’s own is good. The price for the amount of product you get is okay, but not great. Morphe’s mist is priced (per ounce) between drugstore and high end sprays, leaning towards the high end prices.

Cruelty Free/Vegan status?

I’m not going to assign a heart-rating for this category, but it’s something I want to point out.

Morphe does not have any official statements on their site saying they are cruelty free or vegan.

We know the entire brand isn’t vegan because they do sell natural makeup brushes. They also sell vegan brushes, and when you look at individual brushes on Morphe’s site it does say which are natural or synthetic.

But according to Cruelty Free Kitty, Morphe has presented some conflicting information on their cruelty free status. Additionally, they don’t boast about being cruelty free anywhere – wouldn’t they be proud of being CF if they were?

I also can’t find any information about the setting mist being vegan.

While I’m not going to currently stop using the Morphe products I’ve already purchased, it’s something to think about for the future if you want to support CF and Vegan brands!

End Note

Overall, this is a great setting spray. You might be able to find something of better value on the market, but you won’t find any continuous mists that are as good as this one!

I do recommend this spray to people with dry and normal skin. This can also work for oily skin, but it does not have a matte finish. Still works great though!
