E.l.f. Cosmetics is one of the biggest drugstore makeup brands. Most of their products range from $2-10, making e.l.f. one of the most affordable brands available nationwide. Here is a list of the most popular and best e.l.f. cosmetics products, updated for 2020.
About e.l.f. Cosmetics
Here’s some information about the brand:
- founded in 2004
- drugstore brand found in grocery stores, drug stores, Ulta, and other random retailers
- 100% cruelty free and vegan
- hypoallergenic products
Overall, e.l.f. is committed to bring high quality beauty products to the average consumer at a low price.
E.l.f. Cosmetics was one of the first makeup brands I ever tried, and I have used countless numbers of their products over the years.
I’ve tried all sorts of products from e.l.f.: primers, foundations, concealers, bronzers, contour, highlighter, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, setting spray, lipsticks, brushes, sponges… You get it. I’ve tried it all, and I’m here to tell you which products are worth buying.
A while back I wrote a post about my top 10 best e.l.f. Cosmetics products – and while some of the products from the original post are going to be here, some of them won’t. Sometimes products don’t work for us anymore and that’s okay! This post is different than my previous post; It’s filled with many new products, my favorites and your favorites, consistently updated as we try more e.l.f. makeup.

Best e.l.f. Cosmetics Products in 2020
At least, in this beauty blogger’s opinion. Share your favorites in the comments below!
This pink makeup sponge is super soft and airy – much less dense than my comparable Morphe sponge. It is teardrop-shaped with a flat bottom, which gives you plenty of different angles to use. This is definitely a tool for multiple makeup products in one application.
It expands wonderfully when dampened and is definitely worth the $5 to try one out. Then buy 6 more for all the other days in the week.
This primer was all the rage in 2019. It was sold out of stores for months after being hailed as a dupe for Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas primer, which retails for $52. E.l.f.’s $8 version is much more affordable, and many people claim it’s just as good as the high end original. I haven’t tried the Tatcha one so I can’t make that claim personally, but the e.l.f. one is nice.
At first I wasn’t sure about using a jelly highlighter. The product looks like a liquid, but has the consistency of slime (ya know, the kid’s craze last year?).
But surprisingly, it looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. The jelly highlighter can be used for a natural, skin-like glow – or a super blinding highlight!
I own the shade “bubbly” which is great for my fair toned skin, and the other shades look equally as gorgeous.
I was honestly surprised at how much I enjoy this lip gloss.
This plumping gloss isn’t painful, but it does make your lips tingle for a while. I personally don’t find that it plumps my lips much at all, but the gloss formula itself is gorgeous.
It is a bit sticky, so if you don’t like sticky glosses this might not be for you. That said, the subtle shimmer in this gloss makes it look glam, and the sheerness of the color allows you to layer it over lipsticks or wear on it’s own for a simple glossy lip.
This was one of my top products on the last list, and it’s still holding it’s place in 2020.
E.l.f.’s $2 brow pencil is one of my favorite products of all time. Why?
- It’s only $2
- The Neutral Brown shade is the absolute perfect match for my hair
- It’s easy to use
- There is a spoolie brush attached on the end
- It’s only $2
Is it the absolute best brow pencil in the world? Of course not. Is it the absolute best for only $2? YES.
I’ll go through a $24 brow pencil at the same rate as I’ll go through a $2 pencil with the same results. Why wouldn’t I choose the e.l.f. version?
My second favorite brow product from e.l.f. is their Wow Brow Gel. This gel includes fibers that make your brows look fuller and thicker, perfect for the natural brow look.
The small spoolie applicator on this product is great, and the price is amazing too. Wow Brow Gel is my $4 dupe for Glossier’s Boy Brow. If you’re looking for an awesome and inexpensive tinted gel, try this one out!
I have a whole review dedicated to this gel here.
This concealer shook up the market in 2019, and e.l.f. has expanded the range with another formula this year!
The 16 HR Camo Concealer is a full coverage, high pigment concealer. It’s a dupe for Tarte Shape Tape, and it’s only six dollars. Yes, really.
E.l.f.’s original Camo Concealer formula is the matte version, compared to their newly released Hydrating Camo Concealer. If you have dry skin or found the first version too matte, definitely check out the new one.
I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving e.l.f.’s Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls.
If you’re searching for a gorgeous, subtle but buildable, semi-natural looking pressed power highlight – look no further, you just found it.
The shimmer in this highlighter is gorgeous and not at all overpowering. The pigment is sheer yet buildable, allowing you to have total control over your look. You can create a natural light glow all over your skin, or build up the highlighter with a bit of setting spray and have a bold and bright highlight.
Moonlight Pearls will forever have a special place in my heart – I quite literally wore this highlighter on my wedding day. Seriously, that is how pretty it is!
The other shades are pretty, but don’t work for my skin tone. Blush Gems is a great blush topper for me, though!
I highly recommend scraping off the very top laying of the baked highlighters when you purchase them. Since they are baked, the topmost layer is very hard and powdery. Underneath you’ll find the gorgeous highlighter I’m talking about! Best applied with a soft and small fluffy highlighter brush.
This juicy gloss has the classic plastic tube packaging that I knew and loved as a kid, but this e.l.f. gloss has a lot better ingredients than that drugstore purple gloss I used to wear!
Filled with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, avocado oil, castor oil and coconut oil (e.l.f. Cosmetics) this gloss will truly help your lips feel more hydrated. I personally hate when glosses dry out my lips even more (how? I don’t know, but it happens!) so ingredients like this make me happy.
These glosses are sheer, so even the purple is wearable. Even if it was bright purple on my lips, I’d still want it.
Purchase at e.l.f. Cosmetics
Dewy skin was a huge trend last year, and I predict it will continue to be the focus for at least the next year. A few brands have had good dewy setting sprays for a while (shout out to Milani) but after Anastasia’s Dewy Set released in 2019, many more cosmetics companies produced their own versions of a dewy setting spray.
E.l.f’s Dewy Setting Mist has a gorgeous mist and a gorgeous dewy shine. For less than a third of the cost of ABH’s setting spray, I think the e.l.f. version is totally worth it.
