Why I post blog growth and income reports:
When I started my journey of blogging, I read lots of posts titled “blog income reports” and “blog growth reports” where bloggers post all their traffic and monetary numbers for their readers to see, to be completely transparent about everything they do!
The first income report I read was by Create And Go, which they update monthly here. They have great info and you should check them out if you’re interested in blogging.Create And Go is a very successful blog, with many followers and high SEO ranking. Comparatively, I found very few new bloggers that post growth reports or income reports in the early stages of their blog.
Most people wait 4-6 months, or maybe a whole year, to post a growth report – enough time for them to build a social media presence and gain authority online.
I decided to start monthly growth reports at the beginning of my blogging career to show the process from the very start of creating a new blog! These blogging reports will include growth and income information, social media information, as well as my goals for the following month of blogging!

General Information:
- I launched BeautyBrainsBlush.com on December 1, 2018
- This report covers my seventh month blog growth, from July 1 – 31, 2019
- I published 9 blog posts this month. This is less than normal!
Page Views and Users
Goals I had for this month:
- 15k users
- 18k page views
This month’s statistics:
- 6,234 users (down from 9.6k)
- 7,968 page views (down from 12.5k)

As you can see, I didn’t have nearly as many viewers as last month – but overall, it was very consistent. I’d like to see it growing more, but I’m glad it wasn’t declining throughout the month.

Goals for next month:
- 15k users
- 18k page views
I almost feel like I need to lower my goals, because I’ve had them for a few months now. But I also don’t want to lower my expectations!
Acquisition
Goals I had for this month:
- Answer some questions on Quora (had a couple from there!)
- Write 3 posts based on Pinterest SEO
This month’s statistics:

This is pretty standard for the blog. I had less Organic Search results this month, primarily because last month there was a day where one of my posts was viral for a makeup release – and it was old news this month.
I need to work more on evergreen content, because I didn’t post many this month. My issue is that the “disposable” posts are more popular. What to do…
I did answer some Quora questions this month. I have fun doing it, and I think I need to add it to my weekly schedule.
However, the Pinterest SEO posts did NOT happen.
Goals for next month:
- Write 3 posts based on Pinterest SEO

Goals I had for this month:
- 100 subscribers
This month’s statistics:
- 93 subscribers (up from 68!)
I got pretty close to my goal this month – I definitely think I’ll reach double digits in August!
Once again, 15 [more] people subscribed because of my makeup expiration tracker opt-in, and a couple subscribed from the original opt-in I created in my second month, January, which I created an automated email sequence for in June… or early July… I don’t remember!
Goals for next month:
- 150 subscribers
Reach for the stars, right folks?
Shameless plug:
Social Media
Goals I had for this month:
- Go live more – 2x week IG, maybe also FB.
- Get serious about starting Youtube.
This month’s statistics:
- Pinterest: 6,841 followers, 2.4 million monthly reach
(last month 5,332 followers and 2.2 million monthly reach)
My Pinterest followers have been inclining consistently, which is awesome – I plan to just continue what I have been doing! - Instagram: 1367 followers
(last month 1374 followers)
I only posted on IG five times this month. Yes, seriously. I slacked BIG TIME. And somehow… I gained more followers than last month. Recently I polled my followers, questioning how often I should post, and the majority voted that I should post once every few days instead of every day. Since IG brings me almost no traffic and has been a huge disappointment lately, I am totally okay with only posting 1-2 times a week. - Facebook: 90 followers
(last month 86)
Once again, I did absolutely nothing for Facebook this month. I rarely posted unless I had a new IG image or new blog post. And I had fewer blog posts and WAY fewer IG images this month, so the page was pretty dead. - Twitter: 14 followers, I don’t really use Twitter I just have the account.
I didn’t go live at all this month. We were on vacation for a week, we had apartment “issues” for another couple, and I can’t go live while my husband is working from home in our office – where my desk and makeup is located! Depending on where we move soon, this will be solved and I COULD have my own office, which will give me no excuses to miss lives.
Youtube. I got myself some gently used studio lights (thanks, mom!) and ordered a backdrop stand. I have to figure out a tripod situation still, but I know what microphone I’ll be buying when the time comes! Woohoo!
Goals for next month:
- Post more older blog posts on FB to cycle them through – I have enough to do this and not be repetitive!
- Move and set up a studio for videos and lives!
Income
Goals I had for this month:
- $500
- update July deals
- advertise deals page more
This month’s statistics:
- Google AdSense: $1.24
- Amazon Associates: $8.67
- rStyle: $85.21
Total for July 2019: $95.12
Okay, I know it isn’t as great as last month.
However, this is how much I would have made last month if it hadn’t been for the super-popular-June-post! The fact that I kind of slacked off this month and didn’t write as quality of content, and STILL made almost $100, is really really awesome.
I definitely want to write some good affiliate posts soon to help these numbers grow. And eventually, when I start making videos, I will (a long time from now) begin to make AdSense money off of views and affiliate money from links in video descriptions!

There are also expenses to blogging, including hosting, Tailwind, Canva, and other random little things (like backdrop supplies and office materials)! This month I spent more than normal, purchasing a backdrop for filming.
Goals for next month:
- $500
- update August deals
- advertise deals page more
Still a large goal, but I want to aim high!

Future Goals
- Start Youtube
- Research business structures and tax information
Oh, and this month I wanted to give a shoutout to my friend Kimber over at theskinship.com! She blogs about skincare, which is such an important part of makeup, that I wanted to direct you to her site for all the skincare info you could possibly need. Eventually I want to get into skincare on the blog, but I think it’ll be a year or two until I do!
I hope my eighth month blog growth report was helpful for you! All these numbers are real, and it’s sometimes weird putting it all out there on the internet – but I know I personally would have loved to read these.
