Why I post blog growth and income reports:
When I started my journey of blogging, I read lots of posts titled “blog income reports” and “blog growth reports” where bloggers post all their traffic and monetary numbers for their readers to see, to be completely transparent about everything they do!
The first income report I read was by Create And Go, which they update monthly here. They have great info and you should check them out if you’re interested in blogging.Create And Go is a very successful blog, with many followers and high SEO ranking. Comparatively, I found very few new bloggers that post growth reports or income reports in the early stages of their blog.
Most people wait 4-6 months, or maybe a whole year, to post a growth report – enough time for them to build a social media presence and gain authority online.
I decided to start monthly growth reports at the beginning of my blogging career to show the process from the very start of creating a new blog! These blogging reports will include growth and income information, social media information, as well as my goals for the following month of blogging!
Pin this for later:

General Information:
- I launched BeautyBrainsBlush.com on December 1, 2018
- This report covers month four, from March 1-31, 2019
- I published 15 blog posts this month!
Updates
I attended an online conference hosted by Teachable this past week, and it was AWESOME. I learned so much, signed up, and got access to a bunch of ecourses that I’m planning on taking in April to learn even more! I’m very excited about it.
If you have any ideas for ecourses you’d love to see me create, comment below! If not, that’s okay – I already have a few ideas!
Page Views and Users
Goals I had for this month:
- 1,300 unique users
- 1,500 page views
This month’s statistics:

I cannot believe how much my traffic has grown this month. It is truly incredible!
6.5k users with 8.3k pageviews?! (This is not an April fool’s joke)
Goals for next month:
- 10k users
- 13k page views
Acquisition
Goals I had for this month:
- Continue growing in Pinterest and Tailwind (more on this in social media later)
This month’s statistics:

There was a big jump in Facebook traffic this month (over 70% of social traffic!) because a few of my new makeup release posts went viral in makeup groups on Facebook. I don’t expect this trend to continue.
I still had Pinterest growth, even though it wasn’t my main source of traffic.
My organic growth skyrocketed! I’ve been trying really hard to be the absolute FIRST article published on very popular makeup releases, making me the only article with SEO keywords on that particular topic. It is working, and I am ranked on the first page of Google for a VERY popular makeup product released on March 29, 2019 (this one) which is a lot of my organic traffic.
Google Search Console Screenshot (you can clearly see when I wrote the popular article!)

Goals for next month:
- Rank on Google for more articles
- Rank on Pinterest for some articles
Goals I had for this month:
- Keep sending weekly email updates on Fridays
- Create more opt-in opportunities for many posts
This month’s statistics:
- 15 subscribers (up from 8 in February)
I switched email providers this month. Mailchimp was driving me crazy! Mailerlite seems better so far, but I don’t have enough experience to truly give my opinion yet.
Goals for next month:
- 50 subscribers
- Create opt-ins
Ohh, here’s a good time for me to plug this form…
Social Media
Goals I had for this month:
- Step up flatlay game for IG!
- Keep up consistent posting and lives on IG
- Lives on FB?
- Makeup support group FB?
- Interact with brands on Twitter
- Utilize Tailwind and schedule lots of pins!
This month’s statistics:
- Pinterest: 2166 followers, 2 million monthly reach
(up from 1243 followers and 1.8 million monthly reach)
My monthly reach peaked at 2.5 million (WOW) this month, and stayed there for a while. Overall it’s been pretty stable, which I like, and my followers have been consistently growing! Feeling good about this overall. - Instagram: 1330 followers
(up from 1320 followers)
I find it VERY hard to gain IG followers. I gain a few every day, and get a few unfollowers every day. I’m going to try and be more consistent and see if it helps, as well as posting on stories more. There is a group chat engagement group I’m in that helps my engagement % be higher, and encourages organic engagement, but the follower level is rough. - Facebook: 67 followers
(up from 57)
I created a Facebook group but haven’t used it much. I might start doing lives. Not sure if I should do them on my page, in the group, or on my personal account. - Twitter: 13 followers, I don’t really use Twitter I just have the account.
Goals for next month:
- Post 4/7 a week on Instagram
- Post 6/7 a week on Facebook
- Go live?
- Promote group
Income
Goals I had for this month:
- Update disclaimers and terms to include ShareASale
- Find merchants on ShareASale
- Focus on 2 awesome affiliate posts in March
This month’s statistics:
I was accepted into the following affiliate programs this month, which I am beyond excited about!
- bareMinerals
- Benefit Cosmetics
- BH Cosmetics
- e.l.f. Cosmetics
- Milk Makeup
- Nordstrom
- Revolution Beauty
!!!!!!!!!
Now, I was denied to SEVERAL programs as well, along with a whole affiliate networking company, but I’m going to focus on the ones I WAS accepted into 🙂 I’m especially excited about being an affiliate for elf and bh cosmetics, because I LOVE and use their products every day!
Anyway, I know you want to see the breakdown, so here you go! (this is what I have earned this month, not what I am being paid. Some programs, like AdSense, require a $100 minimum payout – which I am NOT at yet)
- Google AdSense: $5.24
- Affiliates: $131.39 EDIT: $71.39, adjusted for returns after 90 day period.
(This number is a combination of Amazon affiliates, Bluehost, ShareASale, and Rakuten Marketing affiliates, I don’t want to break it down individually)
Total this month: $136.63! EDIT: $76.63 Woohoo!
Goals for next month:
- Make $250
- Have a shopping type of page on the blog for affiliates and favorite products
This will be VERY hard. 99% of my earnings this month were sign up bounties that are not likely to repeat themselves again. We’ll see!
Click-bait income pin!

Expenses
I have expenses that were pre-paid for this month, such as my hosting (three year plan) and Tailwind (year plan).
$10 for Canva business
$40 for Teachable – I attended their online conference and signed up, at the very least for access to thousands of dollars worth of ecourses that I plan to take next month.
Future Goals
- Figure out how to keep traffic up (and grow more!)
- Learn a ton in courses
- Pursue either an ecourse or ebook (or both)
As always, I hope this fourth month blog growth and income report was helpful. Be sure and check out my other reports, too!

If you’re interested in starting your own beauty blog, I can help with that.
It helps me a ton when you pin this article and sign up for my bloggers list! I’ll have another report for you next month. Until then,

These are so encouraging girl! Your blog is amazing and it definitely inspires me to work harder at mine! I also love that you include expenses toward your blog and not just the earnings because I think it is important for people to remember there are things you have to pay for to be successful as well! <3 Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much, Anne! I’m SO glad they’ve been helpful to you. I can’t believe I’m due to write month 5 in just a week!! And YES! There are many expenses, and I haven’t made back what I’ve spent on blogging yet. But, fingers crossed, someday I will! 🙂
