We are well into summer, and my makeup bag is definitely reflecting that. The weather is warmer, I’m spending more time outside, and the cosmetics products that I’m using on my skin need to both protect me and last all day – all while looking cute and fresh! Want to learn what’s in my summer makeup bag? Keep reading to check it out.

Makeup Glossary

This season, I’ve been leaning towards soft makeup looks with subtle pops of color! It’s such an easy way to achieve a unique eyeshadow style, and as a bonus, you can match the pop of color to your outfit.

In my mind, the perfect springtime and summertime glow means gorgeous, dewy skin. Using several cream products for my complexion helps me create a base that looks natural and dewy, without being overly greasy-looking, even though I don’t set it with powder.

These are the products (both drugstore and high end!) that I’m reaching for every single day, for both natural and glam makeup looks. Let’s take a look through my makeup bag together!

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen

I wrote a whole post about this facial sunscreen because I love it so much. It’s the perfect sunscreen to protect your skin under makeup! There is SPF 55, it is breakout free, and layers amazingly with makeup without making you look greasy.

Don’t be the person who doesn’t wear sunscreen and gets burned, increasing your risk for skin cancers. Spend a few bucks and save your skin.

Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer

Because I want to look smooth and not super greasy in my T-zone this summer, I’ve been opting for pore filling primers like this one. It feels so nice on the skin!

I’m also loving the new primer essence by Touch in Sol, but I haven’t been using it long enough to give it a full review… however it will be packed with me on vacation.

Maybelline BB Dream

Lately, I’ve been enjoying using a BB cream instead of a foundation. The lighter BB cream allows my skin to breathe and looks much better at the end of a warm day than my foundations do.

What I love the most about this product is that it contains SPF 30! Since I’m spending more time outside, I want to make sure I keep my skin protected from the sun, and every bit of SPF counts – especially if I forget to apply my sunscreen that day.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

Even though I’m not putting a lot of coverage all over my face, I do like to cover my dark circles and blemishes with a concealer. I love the Tarte Shape Tape because it is full coverage and I can always count on it to cover any area I want it to!

When it isn’t set with powder, Shape Tape isn’t quite as matte, which fits perfectly with my summer glowy vibes.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

I’m a pretty pale gal, and this  shade of the well-loved Butter Bronzer is perfect for my fair skin. It blends out beautifully and gives me just enough warmth and definition to my face.

As a bonus, it smells like summer too! I’ve been using this for a year straight and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. It is my favorite!

Glossier Cloud Paint

This product, in the shade “Beam”, is my absolute favorite cream blush. Blush is a summer necessity for me; It gives you a beautiful flush of color that looks so naturally pretty. Glossier Cloud Paint looks incredibly natural and gorgeous on the skin, and actually lasts all day!

This little tube of product lasts so long because you need such a tiny amount of product to blend out on your cheeks.

Highlighter

Honestly, there are so many highlighters I use that I can’t choose just one to keep in my summer makeup bag! Check out my recent post for the 7 most blinding highlighters – I usually have one of these with me.

If I’m looking for a more natural glow, I love using Glossier Haloscope! It is almost like a balm, but gives the most gorgeous effect. I love this way more than I ever thought I would!

Glossier Boy Brow

This tinted brow gel is like no other! I have decent brows that don’t need to be filled in a ton, so on all my natural days I love grabbing Boy Brow and putting a thick coat of this product through my brows. The fibers in the formula create an appearance of thicker brows, which fills in the areas that are a bit more sparse.

If I need a little more definition, I’ll grab a brow pencil (always loving my classic elf Cosmetics brow pencils) or a pomade (Dipbrow is where it’s at!), but usually Boy Brow is all I need! If you struggle with your brows, definitely try this one out.

MAC Paint Pot

While the intention of this product is to be used as a cream eyeshadow, many beauty gurus use it as an eyeshadow primer. I picked it up to try, and I haven’t put it down since.

I love the way my eyeshadow glides over the Paint Pot, and won’t be going back to using concealer or eyeshadow primer to prime my eyelids anytime soon.

Colourpop Eyeshadow Palettes

This spring, I bought my first Colourpop eyeshadow palette – and I am in LOVE. They blend out beautifully, have amazing soft shimmers, and are so affordable.

I honestly want every palette that they have ever made. That’s really how much I love them!

My everyday go to palettes are I Think I Love You, a neutral toned palette with a wide range of shimmers, and Kathleen Lights x Colourpop Dream Street palette, that is more warm toned with a few blue pops of color. But you truly can’t go wrong with any of them!

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow

Yeah, another Colourpop product, back to back – I know. But they are SO good!

Imagine dipping your finger into a little pot of soft, glittery goodness. Imagine tapping it onto the center of your eyelid, and bam – being glam and ready for the day. That’s what a Super Shock Shadow does for you.

Seriously, if you love a quick eyeshadow look and don’t want to put a lot of effort into your makeup, but still want some shimmer… GET THESE. They are INCREDIBLE. If you have never tried them, you need to.

Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever

I rarely wear any eyeliner on top of my eyelid or as a wing. BUT, I do line my waterline nearly every day with this eye pencil! This is an affordable pencil that packs great pigment and glides very easily on the delicate area of the waterline.

Eyelash Curler

I feel like no one talks about curling their eyelashes anymore, but it’s such an easy way to make your lashes look bigger – in under 10 seconds!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

This mascara is super popular and tons of people love it, but there are just as many people who hate it. I was really excited to try it, and I do actually really love it!

There’s a waterproof version too, if you have issues with transferring – or just sweating in the summertime heat!

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist

I LOVE this setting spray. It really helps my makeup last all day (which I need when I don’t set it with powder!) and melts the makeup into your skin, making it look more natural.

To be honest, this isn’t currently in my makeup bag… because I just ran out! I use this stuff every day, and I feel lost without it right now. No worries, I’ll be picking up another ASAP.

HEMPZ Lip Balm

I love lining my lips with a lip liner, and putting a bit of this lip balm on top. It’s extremely moisturizing and looks glossy, without the sticky feeling of so many lip glosses.

Plus, my lips are chronically dry, and a matte lipstick makes it way worse. This summer I’m going super easy and natural with this lip balm, and I am loving it!
